Now that the smoke has settled after Galcher Lustwerk’s 100% GALCHER reboot in 2022, which saw his landmark 2013 debut receive its first vinyl pressing and a Best New Reissue tag from Pitchfork, the producer drops a rarities EP featuring more resurfaced and remastered material from the 100% era alongside two new edits. An autotune version of cult-favorite “Outside The Club” reveals Lustwerk’s flirtations with R&B between his baritone bars. “I Neva Seen” gets a new remix by enigmatic producer Willow of Workshop Records fame, who torques up the original into a hypnotic froth across eight slowly-building minutes. Other unreleased gems, extracted from a classic mix Lustwerk made for Resident Advisor (“Come Over,” “This Is How We Roll”) and his 2014 limited-run 12” on Tsuba Records (“Fate,” “Chillin’ In the Booth,” “216”), land properly on streaming services for the first time. LUSTWERK II gives a closer look into a low-key legend’s breakthrough period and further proves his sound arrived fully formed and far ahead of its time.
